Our Story
The Caltech Center for Inclusion and Diversity (CCID) was founded January 2009 as the Caltech Center for Diversity (CCD) through the merger of two departments: Minority Student Education and the Women's Center.
The CCD was formed to serve minoritized populations and lead initiatives traditionally supported by Minority Student Education and the Women's Center. The CCD was also tasked with facilitating LGBTQIA+ programming, a significant step forward in Caltech's commitment to inclusion and diversity.
The summer of 2020 marked a significant shift in the center's journey. It was then that the center's name was changed to the Caltech Center for Inclusion and Diversity, a change that symbolized its evolving focus and unwavering commitment.
