Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellowship (MMUF)
Toward a More Inclusive Academy
The Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellowship (MMUF) is a prestigious national program focused on increasing the number of historically excluded students pursuing doctorate degrees in core fields in the arts and sciences. Fellowships include mentoring, research stipends, and travel support (conferences, graduate school visits, etc.).
Who is eligible?
- Caltech undergraduate student (sophomore, junior)
- Meeting GPA requirement (2.5 minimum)
- Students with a historically marginalized background or identity(ies)
- Students who may not come from historically marginalized or minoritized groups but have otherwise demonstrated a commitment to the goals of MMUF
- Demonstrated interest in pursuing a Ph.D. in an MMUF-approved course of study: Earth Science, Geology, Ecology, Mathematics, Astronomy, Computer Science, Physics, English, History, History and Philosophy of science, Philosophy, and Interdisciplinary Studies: Interdisciplinary areas of study may be eligible if one or more eligible fields are at the core, but must be approved by the MMUF staff at the Mellon Foundation
Requirements
- Participate in Bi-Monthly Meetings
- Meet with Graduate Coordinator twice a month
- Attend Annual Regional Conference
- Participate in Research with a Faculty Mentor
- Signed Fellow Contract
